FAQ’s

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_toggle title=”Why purchase OCI Pro Grill over any other grill?” open=”false”]The OCI pro Grill is one of the best made grills in its price range.  The use of only the best grade 304 and 443 Stainless Steel is used in the construction of this grill making it last for may years to come.  The manufacturing and engineering of this grill is of the highest and best quality.  Laser cut, precision made and laser welded components make up this grill.  The manufacturing technique uses some of the most advanced machines in the world.  The “human error” is removed from the manufacturing process and only used when the “art” of polishing is needed.

This grill cooks like a dream.  The internal components are made up of restaurant quality components and utilize the unique “U” style burner  system to have a more even heat distribution inside the grill.

The use of the stainless steel cooking grills allows for many years of great grilling, easy cleaning and no rusting.

The “flame thrower” easy ignition system is used in all of the Pro Performance grills allowing for easy startup of the grill and little to no lighting issues.  The use of a “Flashtube” on the right side allows for manual lighting and “Crossfires” between the burners allows for easy internal lighting from burner to burner.

Internal lights allow you to see clearly inside the grill while grilling at night.

On the 4 and 5 burners the optional Rotisserie system allows for the use of the Infrared Back Burner.  This allows you to convert the grill to a “rotisserie” system making game and gig meat self cooking a breeze.

The better than average WARRANTY allows for peace of mind when it comes to purchasing this grill.

if you have any additional questions please contact us directly and we will explain the features and benefits as well as you can view the videos on Youtube.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How do I tell if my grill is Natural Gas or Liquid Propane Gas?” open=”false”]The bbq will come converted with one gas type only.  The gas is either Natural Gas supplied by your local city or Propane gas supplied by local propane dealers and in a tank.  There is absolutely a big difference in the two gas types and the Jets from the valves known as orifices are different sizes.

1) look on the left side of the gas grill and you will see a rating plate.  this will tell you if the gas type is Natural Gas or Liquid Propane.

2) Each grill will come with a alternate conversion kit.  If you look on the kit it will inform you the gas type.  The alternate gas type is already on the grill.

If the gas grill is NOT burning correctly call OCI right away for professional information in identifying the orifice type.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Should I clean my grill before use?” open=”false”]Always clean the gas grill before your first time grilling.  You can wipe the burners, flame tamers and grills with a mild solution of soap and water or just burn the grill for 15-20 minutes.  You will see some smoke and this is the oils that have been used to protect the material from the factory.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What should I do before my first use?” open=”false”]The first thing to do is make sure that all packing material and zip ties have been removed.  remove the cooking grills and flame tamers and look at the burners.  Make sure they are seated over the valve and the end of the burner is seated in the slot at the end of the grill.  Place the flame tamers and grills back and light the first burner by holding in the valve and hearing the gas come out- do not turn left yet tot he high position until you can hear gas.  The turn left and the click will ignite the burner.  repeat the process on the next burners.  Once the grill is lit close the hood and wait 20 minutes for all the oils to burn off.  Clean the grill and then you are ready to preheat the bbq and start grilling.

After you ahv=e finished grilling make sure you clean the grills before the next use[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”I can hear gas but the burner does not light?” open=”false”]NATURAL GAS : The first time you use the gas grill you may have “AIR” inside the line.  You may hear a sound but it may not be gas so make sure that you bleed out all the air from the line before you try and ignite the gas grill.

LP GAS:  Liquid Propane is at a high pressure and when you open the tank do not open the valve more than 1 & 1/2 turns so that you do not place the regulator in a safety position.  What this means is that the pressure may be too high and this will place a small safety flap in the LP regulator to drizzle the gas to the bbq rather than allow for a full flow.  To resolve this just switch of the bbq and tank and wait 10 minutes while the regulator resets itself.  Turn tank 1 & 1/2 turns and ONLY place the right side burner on to ignite.  If this does not work call OCI for a replacement hose and regulator.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”My Inside light does not work??” open=”false”]The light is powered by a transformer.  Make sure that the light is plugged into the transformer and that the transformer is plugged into a GFI switch.  If it is make sure the GFI is not popped out in a safety position.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”I have a sear burner how does this work?” open=”false”]The sear burner takes the place of the left side burner.  Remove the cooking grill, flame tamer and U burner.  The U burner has a PIN holding it in place and this must be popped out.  Remove the Crossfire by unscrewing the screw holding it on to the frame.  The crossfire is the U shaped piece of metal that runs the gas from the back of one burner to another.  Once you have completed this then take the sear burner and place over the valve and into the hole at the back of the frame.  make sure that the TUBE leading to the burner is over the valve and the gas will flow into the burner.

DO NOT place the flame tamer back on the bbq.  Place the Crossfire, U Burner and flame tamer in a safe place for future use.

Open the Hood and ignite the Burner.  You will see the burner start to glow red and then it is ready for use.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How do I claim a warranty issue?” open=”false”]Firstly make sure that you have registered your product with OCI pro Grills.  Keep you original owners manual and serial number with a copy of your receipt in a safe place.  You can either call us directly Monday – Friday 9am to 4pm or email us at support@ociprogrill.com

Please make sure that you read all of the warranty information and this Gas Grill is NOT intended for Commercial use.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”My Infrared back burner will not light?” open=”false”]First, make sure that you have the right BACK BURNER knob turned on.  The back burner knob will be clearly marked as a back burner.  The same system applies for ignition and required you to wait a few seconds until gas reaches the Burner.  make sure that you see a “SPARK” on the burner while gas is being forced to the burner.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How do I clean my driptray?” open=”false”]There are many biodegradable non-toxic gas grills cleaners but simple green works well and can clean the surface after each use.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Why is the inside of the hood brown/black not the original Stainless steel color?” open=”false”]The hood is double lined and the outside is protected from the direct heat exposure.  The inside is exposed to heat, smoke and fat and will change color, this is normal and in no way changes the integrity of the metal.  You can clean the grill with biodegradable non -toxic grill cleaner after each use to remove excess fat.  DO NOT use oven cleaner.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”If the metal is for outside why should I have a cover?” open=”false”]304 and 443 Stainless steel is designed to withstand rust and corrosion.  All metals have some nickel inside them and small surface rust will appear.  This is easily removed with a scotch bright pad.

The Gas grill will maintain the stainless appearance on the outside and when you cover the grill it will keep it clean from outside elements such as rain, sand and chemicals.  NOTE – pool acids will eat away at the metal so DO NOT allow chemicals to hit the Gas Grill.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”My contractor says I do not need a Permit for this grill to be built in?” open=”false”]You absolutely need a building permit for all structures and gas grill plumbing.  You will have to check with your local city and fire department for code restrictions.  Please always check with your association for any restriction that may apply.

The only time you do not need a permit will be for CART MODELS using a 12Ft quick connect hose, LP gas grills on a cart and in many cities portable islands that meet and exceed the local and state building codes.  Make sure that if you run gas in any way you will need a permit.

Always think safe when you build a BBQ into a structure. Combustible material means that – it will catch on fire and will potentially harm yourself and others.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What is the safe way to light a grill?” open=”false”]Always have the hood open.  Start with the first burner and turn to the left just before you hear a click, wait a few seconds until you hear the hiss of gas then turn past the click onto the high position.  Once you know the gas is lit continue on to the next burner.

If the Main burners do not light, there is a small tube on the left side called a “FLASH TUBE”.  Place the burner on high past the click, wait a few seconds and then place a match or long nose lighter over the tube and the gas will ignite this burner.  It is only located on the far right burner.  Once this burner is lit then you can push the next burner on and the “CROSSFIRES” will light each burner for you.

If the Burners do not light from that make sure you turn all the gas off, let the gas disparate and try again.  If this continues to not light then you may have a bad “REGULATOR” and call OCI pro grills right away for a replacement regulator.

Gas grill lighting with the hood closed is never allowed.  Always stay close to the grill and make 100% sure the grill is lit on all burners being used before you “CLOSE” the hood.  If you “Think” the grill is lit and close the hood and walk away you have a potential buildup of gas and when ignited will potential blow up.

Never walk away from a gas grill that has the gas flowing – not ignited and the hood closed.

A shutoff timer is available online for people that may leave the gas grill on by mistake and will allow the valve to shut the flow of gas off to the bbq.  You will find this safety device at most resorts and rental communities.
